SVCC Brings Military Vehicles to Campus As Part of Honoring Our Veterans Event

November 2011

Sauk Valley Community College’s Student Veterans’ Organization invites the public out to the SVCC campus Thursday, November 10 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. to participate in the “Honoring our Veterans” event.

Participants can walk around throughout the day to view a variety of large military vehicles. Military personnel along with members of the Student Veterans’ Organization will also be on hand to help participants view the insides of the vehicles, sit in the driver’s seat and get a full hands-on experience. By doing so, the organization hopes people will be able to have an idea of what military personnel must learn and do during their time in the service.

“Not only do we want people to remember our veterans, we want them to see first-hand what many have to do during duty,” said Tom Breed, coordinator of veteran services at SVCC. “This is a great chance for the public to greet several military personnel and learn about what their military lives entail.”
