SVCC Choirs Perform Holiday Selections December 4

December 2011

Sauk Valley Community College will feature three of its performing ensembles Sunday, December 4 at 2 p.m. in the SVCC East Mall to showcase several holiday pieces.

This year the SVCC Concert Choir will perform several songs of the season including "If Anybody Asks You Who I Am," an American folk song arranged for choirs by the Western Wind Ensemble, Schubert's "Die Zwei Tugendwege," Robert Fuhrer's "Cantate Domino" and the perennial Christmas favorite, "Thirty Second Fa La La."

Two other smaller ensembles made of students from the music department will perform several selections as well. The Collegiate Singers will perform several traditional songs as well as another Western Wind Ensemble arrangement entitled “The Cherry Tree Carol.” The New Music Ensemble will feature jazz selections as well as music of the season such as “What Child is This?”

The SVCC Music Department ensembles include students in the SVCC music program as well as any Sauk student who is interested in continuing their involvement in music. For more information on the SVCC choir concert, contact Kris Murray, SVCC music director, at 815-835-6258.
