Department of Veterans Affairs Mobile Vet Center on Campus April 17 and 18

The Department of Veterans Affairs Mobile Vet Center (MVC) will be onsite at Sauk Valley Community College on April 17 from 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. and April 18 from 8 a.m.-1:30 p.m. This is a free service open to all veterans who served in any combat zone and their families.

The MVC’s mission is to reach the underserved veteran population and help them readjust to civilian life. This includes helping veterans identify problems and offering counseling (individual, family or group) to deal with these issues. The MVC also provides information on other veteran services and contacts to utilize them.

Vet Center programs have been available for years in various states but this new effort has 50 mobile centers traveling to locations throughout the country to help wherever there is a need. The MVCs have two confidential counseling areas, video conference systems, and more as part of this new effort to make sure all veterans’ needs can be reached.
