Music Department Spring Concerts April 29 and May 6

Sauk Valley Community College hold its annual spring choir concert Sunday, April 29 at 2 p.m. in the SVCC East Mall.

This year the SVCC Concert Choir will perform several songs including Mozart’s"Ave Verum Corpus," Lloyd Pfautsch’s "Hello Girls," Glenn Gould’s "So You Want to Write a Fugue" in honor of his 75th birthday William Billings, "We Sail the Ocean Blue" from H.M.S. Pinafore and David Bowe and Mike Pritchard’s “21 Guns” from American Idiot.

The audience will also enjoy to songs performed by the cast of “You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown.”

The Sauk Valley Community College Concert Band will hold its free annual spring concert Sunday, May 6 at 6 p.m. in the SVCC East Mall.

The band, under the direction of Mark Bressler, will perform “Duke of Cambridge March” by Malcom Arnold, “Lethbridge Overture” by James Ployhar, “If Though Be Near” by Johann Sebastian Bach, “Bubbling Woodwinds” by David Schanke, “Concertino for Flute” by Charminde, “Three Revolutionary Marches” by Bedrich Smetana, “An American Elegy” by Frank Ticheli, “Selections from Phantom of the Opera” arranged by Barker and “Bullets and Bayonets” by John Philip Sousa.

“Concertino for Flute” will include featured soloist Denise Deter, SVCC flute professor.
