The Sauk Valley College Foundation has a new scholarship available for the 2012-13 academic year.
The Clark Kelly Memorial Scholarship is available to any SVCC student interested in journalism, broadcast, political science, community service and leadership or international studies.
Ira G. “Clark” Kelly (1939-2011) of Dixon was many things to many people. He was a tenacious newspaper reporter at the Telegraph, a prize-winning columnist, a political editor who interviewed Ronald Reagan and a veteran radio broadcaster for WSDR and WIXN.
Following his retirement, Kelly became a member of the Dixon City Council and volunteered his time through the Dixon Elks Lodge, United Way, Red Cross, Veterans Memorial Park, Dixon Theatre Renovations Inc. and more.
Anyone interested in applying for the Clark Kelly Memorial Scholarship can call the Sauk Valley College Foundation for an application at 815-835-6345. The deadline for the scholarship is August 15. Questions regarding the scholarship can be directed to Amy Viering, SVCC director of foundations and grants, at 815-835-6329.
