Two members of the Sauk Valley Community College will receive high recognition from the Illinois Community College Trustees Association June 7 in Chicago.
Andrew Bowman, SVCC board chairman, earned his first Trustee Education Award. This award is given to trustees that complete 15 or more seminars offered by the Association. Dr. William Simpson will receive the Certificate of Merit. This award is presented to former trustees or presidents who have made a significant contribution to the ICCTA, the Illinois system and to the college he or she serves. Simpson served for over 30 years as a member of the SVCC board.
The Board of Trustees also established a scholarship recognizing Simpson for his dedication and service to SVCC. The Dr. William J. Simpson scholarship will recognize a high school student with high achievements going into the field of medicine.
Both will be recognized June 7 at the ICCTA Annual Convention. For more information on the SVCC Board of Trustees, visit svcc.edu. To learn more about the ICCTA, visit communitycolleges.org.
