Project VITAL (Volunteers in Teaching Adult Literacy) will host a new, hybrid tutor training starting this fall.
Tutors will attend an orientation Monday, August 12 to learn about Project VITAL, meet with veteran mentors and discuss online learning opportunities. Following orientation, tutors will shadow mentors and complete online learning modules. Training will end with an in-service on Monday, August 26 where tutors will be prepared to meet with his or her student.
Both on campus classes will be from 5-7 p.m. A light dinner will be provided.
Project VITAL is a free and confidential tutoring program for local adults looking to improve their reading, writing and other basic academic skills. Tutors meet with their students two to four hours a week and will be supplied with all necessary material and support.
Anyone interested in joining the team, contact Project VITAL at 815-835-6241 to register for this free, rewarding volunteer opportunity.
