Sauk Valley Community College will host the 30h annual Child Fair “A Seussational Event” on Saturday, March 29 at SVCC. Booths will be open 9 a.m.-12 p.m. and a performance of the children’s play Dr. Seuss’ “The Cat in the Hat” begins at noon in the gym. The fair and play are free to the public.
This special 30th year celebration will be bigger and better as we continue to promote children’s health and family well-being. The fair will also feature over 40 exhibitors who will have hands-on activities, games or giveaways for participants. Children and families can visit the bounce houses, emergency vehicles display, car seat safety checks and U of I Extension’s farm fun petting zoo. Each year, Child Fair attracts more than 2,000 participants.
The SVCC theatre will provide the afternoon entertainment of Dr. Seuss’ “The Cat in the Hat.” From the moment his tall, red-and-white-striped hat appears around the door, Sally and her brother know that The Cat in the Hat is the funniest, most mischievous cat they have ever met. With the trickiest of tricks and craziest of ideas, he is certainly fun to play with as he turns a rainy afternoon into an amazing adventure. This classic tale comes to life for all ages as the audience is transported into the world they’ve always imagined-tricks, rhythms and all included.
An adult must accompany all children. Lunch items are available for a fee. For more information on the Child Fair, call 815-835-6212.
