Sauk Valley Community College Breaks Ground on New Student One-Stop Support Center
SVCC recently broke ground on a $1.9M renovation of the College’s student services areas. The “One-Stop” center is due to be completed by late September, 2015.
The focus of the “One-Stop” center is to provide an all-in-one area for Sauk students to seek services, at the point of enrollment through graduation. Students will be able to enter SVCC and receive the most essential and needed services in one designated area. The One-Stop center includes advising, financial aid, admissions, records, recruitment, student activities and community education.
Planning for the One Stop has been in the works for several years, with emphasis placed on student surveys, focus groups, and staff input to best determine what Sauk students need to maximize their success.
In addition to the physical changes taking place, extensive cross-training of staff is underway to help ensure the highest level of customer care for students as they navigate through the One-Stop. “This will revolutionize the way SVCC conducts business and interact with current and prospective SVCC students. This is yet another opportunity to take student service to another level and enhance the student experience at Sauk,” shared Janet Matheney, Assistant Dean of Student Services.
