Cross Country Skyhawks Off To Nationals

11:00 a.m. – Men’s 8 kilometer race
Noon – Women’s 5 kilometer race

With Mercedes Sanchez leading the way, the Women's Cross Country team finished second overall at the Region IV Championships.

Mercedes won the Region IV Championships with a 19:35, 52 seconds better than second place! Bailie Smith was next with an outstanding 20:54 for 6th overall; in 9th was Haylee Altenburg at 21:19 for the third Skyhawk top ten runner; and to finish the team scoring (top five are totaled for team score) were Santana Estrada and Rebecca Arnolts one second apart, 22nd and 23rd overall to send the Skyhawks to Nationals.

Rounding out the Skyhawks with two solid runs were Paige Reynolds and Marisela Herrera, 31st and 35th overall.

Not to be left out, the men's team will look to send two individuals to Nationals as Peter DeLaFuente finished 19th overall to qualify and Scott Heath finished 31st and a top-15 individual finish after taking out the top two teams.

Congratulations to Coach Sullivan and the Skyhawks on qualifying for the NJCAA Nationals.
