Within the Interstices Art Gallery Reception

  • April 15
  • 4 - 6 p.m.
  • SVCC Art Gallery
  • Meet with visiting artist, Judy Bales, during the reception
  • Free & open to the public

Judy Bales completed both her BFA and MFA degrees from the University of Georgia, majoring in painting as an undergraduate and completed her post-graduate work in fiber art. Her public art and wearable art have been in numerous national exhibitions, as well as Canada and New Zealand. She is also the recipient of several awards and grants, including Iowa Crafts and Rock Island Art Guild Fine Arts Exhibition.

Bales shares, “I refer to myself as a hybrid. I am a studio artist and have worked in fiber art for over 25 years including installation, fiber sculpture, and public art. I have periodically adapted my sculptural works to be worn or juxtaposed with the human figure and since 2010 this has been the primary focus of my work. Often I think of the result not so much as a model wearing a garment, but rather a model expressing a phenomenon, or moving within phenomena such as rain or mist.”
