Purpose / Notes:
Serves Whiteside and Carroll Counties and provides educational services to preschool children ages 3-5 with disabilities or special needs. Committed to providing a positive learning environment for all students with disabilities. It is the mission of Bi-County Special Education Cooperative to provide a positive, caring educational experience, rendered in the least restrictive environment, to all students found eligible under the Individuals with Disabilities Act. Bi-County is entrusted to provide quality programming to low incidence students while offering sound technical advice on behalf of high incidence students to our thirteen member districts. We believe that when given the support, opportunity and encouragement, all children can learn and succeed. Hours: 8:00AM-4:00PM Monday - Friday. Services: Educational programs for special needs children, psychological evaluations, social work services, and preschool screenings - member districts hold spring screenings in each district, Summer clinic - clinics are held for assessment of referred and high-risk children, Quality instruction specifically designed to meet each child's individual needs, Program: Four half days per week, a.m. or p.m., Home visits available by appointment, Limited class size, Teachers specifically trained to work with your child, Individual planning for each child, Full-time aides in the classroom, Language development, motor skill development, socialization, concept development and pre-readiness activities, Physical therapy services, Occupational therapy services, Speech and language therapy services, Nursing services. Location: Wallace Education Center, Sterling / Dillon Elementary School, Rock Falls / Fulton Blended Preschool, Fulton / Morrison Blended Preschool, Morrison / Chadwick Elementary School, Chadwick. Eligibility: Preschool students who are identified as eligible for preschool/early intervention programs and who reside in Whiteside or Carroll Counties school districts are eligible, Children must have a six-month or more delay in two or more developmental areas. Cost: There is no cost for the program except for a schoolbook fee. Parents may be asked to provide some school supplies at the beginning of the school year.
