To become the premiere senior citizen facility in the state of Illinois by developing out board, staff, and volunteers to adhere to policies of our programs, while maximizing the effect and production of creating an inclusive environment for all those we serve. Providing fun and relaxing environment for seniors and help attain a grater value of life. The WCSC provides services Monday to Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. The WCSC specializes in programs that advocate opportunities for ages 60 and over to create a higher quality of life. There are also services available to those under the age of 60. Seniors frequently go on day trips to local attractions, including theaters and casinos. There are many craft classes for basket-making, crocheting, painting, and more. Seniors can stay active through their exercise sessions, walks, jam sessions, line dancing, and more. The seniors can play bingo, cards, pool, and other games. The Senior Center holds dances, such as the Senior Prom, dinners, the Jubilee Fashion Show, and other special events. The center also has health programs, a caregiver library, a computer lab, and support groups for caregivers, grandparents raising grandchildren, and Alzheimer's and Fibromyalgia patients and families. Healthy, well-balanced meals are provided at noon. Transportation is provided to go to doctor's office and other medical needs, meal sites, visitations, beauty salon, shopping, etc. Please call at least 24 hours in advance or before 3:00 PM the day before. Trained professionals in the Outreach department give information, answer questions, and provide referrals. They also provide pharmaceutical assistance by lowering your costs immensely. Whiteside County Senior Center has the above programs and services and so much more. Donations are accepted. WCSC Informational/Educational Articles of interest are available in the Senior Echo, published monthly through Sauk Valley Newspapers and the Daily Gazette. ITAC have free telephones for the hearing impaired or blind for those eligible. Internship opportunities are available. Call for more information.
