Golf Head Coach Dave Williams

Head Coach Dave Williams’ begins his 12th year has head golf coach. Williams has more than 45 years experience as a teacher, coach, and athlete at the high school and college levels as well as experience in health and fitness in the private sector.

Williams coached basketball at Texas Women’s University, and basketball, football, cross-country, and track at Ridgewood High School in Norridge. While at Ridgewood, Williams coached the school’s first undefeated conference basketball team, and his cross-country team finished 10th in state (1970) and won five straight conference championships. At Rock Falls High School, Williams earned varsity letters (2) in basketball, football, and three years of golf. In college, he played basketball for three years at Illinois State University.

Williams holds a Master of Science in Physical Education from Northern Illinois University, a Bachelor of Science in Health and Physical Education from Illinois State University, and has completed post-graduate work at Texas Women’s University. 

Assistant Coach Walt Clevenger

Golf Assistant Coach Walt Clevenger

Walt Clevenger enters his seventh season as Skyhawks assistant golf coach. He brings experience to the Skyhawk golf program as both a competitive golfer and as a former coach. Clevenger, of Dixon, has more than 45 years of competitive golf experience. He will again work with team members on all aspect of the game, especially course management. As a collegiate athlete he played golf at Northern Illinois University (NIU) during his junior and senior year. He competes in golf tournaments throughout the Midwest. As a coach, Clevenger coached Sauk’s golf program for two years from 1970 to 1972.

Clevenger as an administrator and teacher in the College’s computer information systems department for more than 30 years. A graduate of York High School in Elmhurst, he and his wife Wendy have a grown son and four grandchildren

 

Assistant Coach Bill Stotzer

Golf Assistant Coach Bill Stotzer

Bill Stotzer’s, now in his tenth season as assistant golf coach at Sauk, brings more than 50 years of experience playing competitive golf. His expertise lies in the short game and golf course management. “Stotz,” as he is affectionately referred, provides direction and supervision to the team primarily on the Skyhawks’ home course, Emerald Hill Golf Course and Learning Center.

A three-time club champion at the Rock River Country Club, Stotzer helped start the golf program at Newman Central Catholic High School and served as captain of the school’s first golf team (1950-52) when Newman was known as Catholic Community High School. He also played freshmen golf at the University of Notre Dame.

Stotzer holds a Bachelor of Science in Commerce from the University of Notre Dame and is a Newman Central Catholic High School graduate.
