Women's Tennis Team Outlook 2010

Coach Kipping is excited that The National Junior College Athletic Association agreed to keep the women’s season in the fall. With the loss of the regional #1 singles runner up and four other sophomores, it will be a rebuilding year for the women as well. The team will only have two returning players this year, Mona Weitz and Melissa Jones both of Sterling. Both women did an outstanding job last year playing singles and doubles. Weitz had to step it up when Tess Ginn was out half way through the season with a sprained ankle. She teamed up with Katie Kipping and played the number one doubles spot.

The new girls on the team include Emily Mills and Taylor Preston of Dixon and Natalie Olds ,Trinity Cavazos, Jennifer Vasquez, and Lauren Viering of Sterling. All these players have the skills, motivation and desire to compete at the collegiate level. Our goal is to work hard to place at the regional tournament this year.

Along with our new team is some exciting news. For the first time ever Sauk will be hosting the Region IV Division I NJCAA Women’s Tennis Tournament this year October 7 and 8. If you want to see some great tennis, come and support the Skyhawks!
