Function of the Job

Assist Testing Center staff with Testing Center daily operations by providing customer service, checking students and examination candidates in and out, maintaining testing records, following security procedures, assisting with examination administration, and actively proctoring. The Testing Center Work Study is required to obtain and maintain certifications by third-party testing vendors and examination providers, and must follow all College, Testing Center, faculty, vendor, and examination-provider policies and procedures regarding test administration, examination security, confidentiality, and academic integrity.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Provide general Testing Center office support, including answering telephones, greeting students and examination candidates, taking messages, and directing inquiries to appropriate staff.
  2. Check in and check out students and examination candidates for College and third-party examinations, verifying identification and required documentation and providing applicable testing instructions.
  3. Assist students with scheduling examinations and explaining testing requirements according to Testing Center procedures.
  4. Monitor testing sessions and enforce established testing rules, including restrictions on personal belongings, electronic devices, communication, unauthorized materials, and other testing aids.
  5. Maintain examination security and confidentiality by safeguarding test materials, passwords, access codes, testing credentials, student information, examination content, and other protected information.
  6. Assist with computer-based testing by helping candidates access authorized testing platforms and reporting technical issues or testing concerns to appropriate Testing Center staff or vendors.
  7. Obtain and maintain required third-party testing vendor certifications, credentials, and training, including maintaining current knowledge of vendor-specific testing, proctoring, security, and incident-reporting procedures.
  8. Maintain accurate testing records and documentation and complete required forms and reports in accordance with Testing Center and examination-provider procedures.
  9. Prepare and maintain testing areas by organizing materials, checking workstations and equipment, and ensuring the Testing center is clean, orderly, and ready for testing.
  10. Deliver documents and materials to College offices as assigned and perform other duties as reasonably assigned by the Testing Center Coordinator or designated Testing Center staff.
  11. Other duties as assigned. 

Essential Functions

  1. Demonstrate professionalism, dependability, sound judgment, confidentiality, and the ability to work independently while adhering to established Testing Center procedures and security requirements.
  2. Effectively monitor testing environments for extended periods, follow detailed written and verbal procedures and vendor-specific protocols, and recognize and appropriately report testing irregularities, security concerns, and procedural violations
  3. Obtain and maintain required third-party/vendor proctor certifications and complete required training.
  4. Communicate effectively and professionally with students, examination candidates, faculty, Testing Center staff, testing vendors, examination providers, and the general public, including communicating by telephone
  5. Use computers, testing platforms, multiple applications, and basic office/testing equipment; accurately maintain records and documentation and understand and follow verbal and visual instructions.

Personal Interaction

Daily contact with College personnel, faculty, students, examination candidates, testing vendors, examination providers, and the general public in the routine performance of duties and delivery of departmental services. The position requires frequent interaction with students and examination candidates while maintaining professionalism, confidentiality, and appropriate testing boundaries.

Requirements

Federal Work-Study provides part-time jobs for undergraduate and graduate students with financial need, allowing them to earn money to help pay education expenses. The program encourages community service work and work related to the student’s course of study. Students participating in the Federal Work Study Program are paid minimum wage and can work up to 20 hours per week. The student is not guaranteed a set number of hours per week.
