Learning Commons

The Learning Commons in room 3L01 and 3M13 offers tutoring, writing center, and library services to help students meet their academic goals. Our spacious facility is equipped with computers for public use, and we have a variety of both study rooms and collaborative spaces.

Learning Commons Tutoring

LC Tutoring supplements classroom instruction with individual and group tutoring and review sessions on subjects including (but not limited to) mathematics, biology, chemistry, physics, accounting, and psychology. Services are offered on a no-cost walk-in basis in an informal and friendly atmosphere. We also offer helpful instructional handouts and a science study area equipped with biology and anatomy study resources.

Learning Commons Library

The Library supports teaching and learning through its print and online collections, interlibrary loan services, and reference and instruction services. College students and employees automatically have library accounts, so they can check out items from the library and access library digital resources anytime/anywhere using their Sauk ID and password. Any resident of the College district who is at least 16 years old may apply for a free library card and check out items from the library. They can also access library digital resources on campus using a guest ID.

Learning Commons Writing Center

The Learning Commons Writing Center offers feedback on all aspects of student writing from brainstorming to final edits. We can offer suggestions on written assignments from all academic departments, as well as all personal writing such as scholarship essays, cover letters, and resumes. Our services are free and available to all Sauk students, including dual credit students. There are no limits on how often a student may use the Writing Center. Consultations are either in-person or online and are offered in 30- or 60-minute increments. Appointments are encouraged, and required for online consultations, but walk-ins are also welcome. For information about how to make an appointment using WC Online, please visit our webpage at www.svcc.edu/writing-center.
