Function of the Job
The Director of Applications and Data Governance provides centralized leadership and administrative supervision for enterprise application systems, data governance initiatives, and institutional data reporting efforts. This role is responsible for ensuring the accuracy, security, efficiency, and integrity of critical enterprise data, particularly within the Banner and Argos systems, and for overseeing the development of integrated data sets for institutional decision making and federal/state compliance.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide leadership for the college's data governance efforts, ensuring high standards for data documentation, quality, integrity, efficiency, and accurate data sharing.
- Oversee the collection and analysis of institutional data, ensuring data solutions align with industry best practices and adhere to federal and state guidelines
- Direct the maintenance and expansion of the institutional data dictionary and collaborate with data systems subject matter experts to document integrated data sets.
- Ensure transparent data access and develop clear documentation for technical and non-technical users.
- Oversee the design, development, and maintenance of data integration solutions which may include the creation, automation, scheduling, or processes necessary to extract and transform data from multiple sources.
- Direct the process for gathering and reporting data required for various State and Federal reporting needs.
- Monitor current trends in higher education data management, storage, and analytics, including predictive analytics and data visualization.
- Direct support for the core enterprise application systems, including Banner, Argos, and other associated database-dependent applications.
- Provide administrative and functional supervision over the Research Analyst/Data Manager, the Enterprise Database and Server Administrator, and the Technical Support Specialist-Programmer.
- Prepare annual budget requests, manage, and maintain the budgets for supervised areas.
- Assign all other reasonable professional duties and responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor.
- Serve as a Night Administrator on a rotating basis. {3%}*
- Serve as a member of the administrative team, including service on Leadership Council.

Personal Interaction
Frequent contact is made with all levels of College personnel, students, the general public, and outside organizations in relation to routine departmental services and duties and in providing appropriate assistance and information as requested.
Supervision Exercised
Administrative and functional supervision over the Research Analyst/Data Manager, the Enterprise Database and Server Administrator, and the Technical Support Specialist - Programmer.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in information technology or related field or equivalent education and experience is required. Five years of experience is required; one year of supervisory experience and teaching experience preferred. Detail orientation and organizational leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills required.
