Function of the Job
Assist the FaCIT staff with office processes and services while maintaining confidentiality of all student records. The preferred student has knowledge in the use of computers, software, and mobile devices. Individuals who have completed computer courses or graphic/web design classes will be given extra consideration.
Duties and Responsibilities
- General office duties including answering the telephone and taking accurate concise messages.
- Be present and answer IS/FaCIT Help Desk phone. Troubleshoot caller issues when possible.
- Deliver, setup, test and pickup of IT equipment to classrooms and faculty/staff offices.
- Instruct faculty, staff and students in use of IT equipment.
- Assist with various data entry tasks in, and related to, Moodle (SVCC’s LMS).
- Fulfill requests by faculty, staff and students such as:Perform laminating, Duplicate non-copyrighted video tapes, Duplicate non-copyrighted CDs, Make photo copies, Scan non-copyrighted text and images, and Perform computer data entry
- Troubleshoot IT equipment problems.
- Clean all IT equipment located in classrooms and FaCIT.
- Perform mechanical duties such as: Change LCD and overhead bulbs, Assemble TV/utility carts, and Assemble instructor consoles for enhanced classrooms.
- Contribute to web design, graphic design, video, or other visual or auditory instructional materials development, as skills warrant.
- Other duties as reasonably assigned by FaCIT staff.
Essential Functions
- Must display professionalism and confidentiality in all matters
- Must be able to communicate by telephone on a daily basis.
- Must be able to use computers.
- Must be able to operate basic office equipment.
- Must be able to provide and understand verbal/visual orders from supervisors.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
Personal Interaction
Daily contact with College personnel, faculty, students, and the general public in the routine performance of duties and departmental services.

Requirements
Federal Work-Study provides part-time jobs for undergraduate and graduate students with financial need, allowing them to earn money to help pay education expenses.
The program encourages community service work and work related to the student’s course of study. Students participating in the Federal Work Study Program are paid minimum wage and can work up to 20 hours per week. The student is not guaranteed a set number of hours per week.
In order to qualify for the Federal Work Study Program the student must:
- be enrolled half-time (or greater) at the College (half-time is 6cr for fall/spring and 3cr for summer),
- be enrolled in an eligible degree or certificate program,
- be in good academic standing; and
- must have eligibility (financial need) as determined by the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
