The Lee County State’s Attorney’s Office is currently seeking qualified applicants
for the role of Felony Administrative Assistant/Victim Services in Dixon, Illinois.

The Lee County State’s Attorney’s Office is responsible for the prosecution
of persons violating State criminal/traffic statutes and County ordinances. The State’s
Attorney’s Office provides legal advice and representation to the Lee County Board,
elected County officials, and County department heads. The office is also responsible
for civil litigation that arises out of the county or its agents. Furthermore, this
Office is responsible for mental health petitions, various civil proceedings directly
impacting County services, specialty courts, asset forfeitures, and petitions filed
in Juvenile Court on behalf of abused or neglected minors.
Primary responsibilities for this position shall include, but are not limited to responsible
for work on Felony cases including entering cases and sending to Prosecutor for review;
attention to time sensitive documents and deadlines, assembling case files; assisting
Prosecutor with any documents, motions, orders, pleadings for cases; filing documents
with the Circuit Clerk’s office and sending/delivering copies to the defense attorney
and/or other agencies; preparing Discovery on Felony cases; pulling cases for weekly
court calls; run criminal history and drivers abstracts through LEADS; maintain all
overhear, search warrant, forfeiture files; communicate with Law Enforcement and other
outside agencies for case information, updates, and arrange meetings/appointments
with Prosecutors; assist with answering the phones and individuals who present to
the office for assistance; and any other duties as requested by the State’s Attorney
or Assistant State’s Attorneys. This position also assists with non-violent crime
victim services by providing notification to the victims of the case filed and their
right to seek restitution; answering questions for victims regarding restitution,
the court process and accompanying victim to court if requested; referring victims
to resources and services for assistance; assist State’s Attorney/Assistant State’s
Attorney in arranging victim meetings about the case and/or preparing victims to
testify at a hearing or trial; provide support and empathy to victims; act as a backup
to the Victim Witness Coordinator and assist in victim needs for violent crime cases;
familiar with the Victim’s Bill of Rights, and any other duties as requested by the
State’s Attorney or Assistant State’s Attorneys.
This full-time position requires a dedicated, self-starter with exceptional organization,
written and verbal communication, confidentiality, and time management. Must be able
to adapt to a fast-paced work environment with the ability to multi-task and adapt
to changing priorities. Must be empathetic toward victims of crime. Must work well
with other county departments, Law Enforcement, and outside agencies. Must have 1-3
years if experience within a legal office/legal environment. Associates Degree or
Bachelor’s Degree is preferred.
Salary range is $40,000-$53,000/year. Benefits include up to 14 paid holidays per
year, additional paid time off (including sick days), eligibility for student loan
forgiveness, health, dental and vision insurance, as well as participation in the
Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund (IMRF) are included in the compensation package.
