Writing Center
The Learning Commons Writing Center provides Sauk Valley Community College students with one-on-one consultations at
every stage of the writing process, from brainstorming how to begin an assignment
to polishing a final draft. We work with all students, regardless of major or academic
department, on any piece of writing, whether it is personal (such as a creative piece
written for fun), professional (such as a scholarship essay, cover letter, or resume),
or academic (such as an essay or a report for class).
Consultations are available in-person or online. All Writing Center services are free to all students, and there are no limits on how often a student may use the Writing Center. We are located in Room 3M17 (down the hall from Learning Commons Tutoring). While we do accept walk-ins, appointments are strongly encouraged as walk-ins are served around scheduled appointments on a first-come, first-served basis. All online consultations require an appointment and are conducted through Google Meet.
If you have any questions, you can reach us by emailing writing.center@svcc.edu or by calling 815-835-6398. During the Fall and Spring semesters, we are open Monday through Thursday from 7am to 5pm and on Fridays from 8am to 12pm virtually by appointment.
