About the Learning Resource Center (Library)

The library at Sauk Valley College offers resources and services to students and employees of the College, as well as residents of the SVCC College District, for education, information and enjoyment.

College Students and Employees

All current students and employees have a library account which is activated when the individual obtains a library card. Accounts are active during academic terms, and may be extended between terms at the request of the individual. Students and employees may borrow books, magazines and journals, videos, and music from the library; request items through interlibrary loan; and access online resources such as eBooks and research databases from off-campus.

Community Patrons

All residents of the Sauk Valley Community College District who are at least 16 years old and who hold a valid driver’s license or other state-issued I.D. are eligible for a free library card. Cards may be renewed on an annual basis pending proof of continued residence. Community patrons may borrow books, magazines and journals, videos, and music from the library. All SVCC library card holders are welcome to participate in the eRead Illinois eBook program.

Items that are not returned or renewed within 29 days of their due date will be marked "lost" in the system, and billed to the patron. Lost item charges will be removed when the items are returned in good condition. Items may be renewed by telephone, in person, or online through the patron’s I-Share account (students and employees only). Items that are returned in a condition that is not fit for further use must be paid for by the borrower.
