Requesting an Appointment

Note: All appointments, virtual or in-person, are offered as one-on-one sessions at this time. Making an appointment is strongly encouraged as appointment times will be honored before walk in students are assisted. Those without appointments may have long wait times before engaging with a writing center tutor. Please consider making an appointment to ensure you have support for your assignment. Only one tutor and one student will be allowed in the writing center at a time. Please wait in the learning commons area until a tutor is available. Note the schedule of available times for the day that will be posted on the writing center door. There may be open times where students have not taken appointment slots. Write in your name and the tutor will communicate with you when they are available. Thank you for your patience with this process.

How to Request a Remote Appointment with the Writing Center

The Writing Center is here to support you with your academic and personal writing assignments and projects. Please email writing.center@svcc.edu to request a Remote appointment. Google Meets is used for virtual appointments. You will be sent an invitation link when your appointment request is received.

You will need to include what class and instructor the assignment is for or describe the personal project you are working on. Please attach the assignment rubric, if you have one, to your request. Give us some indication of appointment times that will work for your schedule. Closer to your appointment, please email what you have completed on your assignment to writing.center@svcc.edu. This will help the writing center staff prepare for your session. If that is not possible, you may share your assignment via google docs at the appointment.

Please Read:
Masks worn properly are mandatory for all in-person sessions. Please arrive at your appointment time and wait for the tutor to let you into the writing center. Only one student and tutor will be allowed in the writing center at a time. You are welcome to find a table in the Learning Commons area to wait until your appointment begins. Please respect other student distancing needs at that time. You may bring your laptop or use one of the laptops available at the writing center to share your assignment or project during your in person session. You may also print two copies of your assignment and share in that way if you prefer not to use a computer during your session. You may also email your assignment ahead of your appointment so that your tutor already has access to your documents. Tutors will be seated a distance away and will not be able to work off of the same document you are working off of.
