Frequently Asked Questions
1. How does online tutoring work?
After you have contacted the LCT for assistance, we will send you an email with a link to an online session. If GoBoard will be used, we will send instructions for use before your first session You can expect a worthwhile and useful session as a tutor interacts with you via GoBoard or Google Meet.
2. Do I need an appointment?
Although we don't usually require appointments for our services, students may schedule an appointment with us using the Schedule Appointment button, by email, or by phone. Our normal operating hours are Mondays - Thursdays from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Fridays from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m (virtual only). during the fall and spring semesters.
3. Is the staff qualified to tutor me?
The staff in the LCT is qualified to tutor students in almost all levels of courses offered at Sauk Valley Community College. Three employees have Bachelor's, and one has an Associates. Student tutors are recommended by faculty and maintain a high grade point average in the classes they tutor.
4. Will the tutors check my homework for me?
It is not the tutor's responsibility to check homework. Tutors are available to answer questions about homework and to clarify assignments. There are answer keys available for almost all of the math texts.
5. How much do I have to pay each time I come into the LCT?
There is no charge for services offered in the LCT.
