Function of the Job
The Human Resources Recruitment & Training Specialist supports the mission of the college by leading recruitment, onboarding, and training initiatives. This position manages the full cycle hiring process, ensures compliance with employment regulations, develops, and delivers training programs, and supports employee onboarding and professional development. The role serves as a key point of contact for applicants, new hires, and employees, ensuring a welcoming, inclusive, and supportive workplace.
Duties and Responsibilities
Recruitment & Onboarding
- Lead the full recruitment cycle for the college, including job postings, advertisements,
and applicant tracking.
- Post positions, advertises on various media sources, handles correspondence with candidates, and makes offers of employment.
- Screen applications, coordinate interviews, prepare candidate materials, and support search committees.
- Coordinates travel reimbursement for candidates, when applicable.
- Ensure search committees have completed interview training.
- Conduct background checks, verify credentials, and ensure all onboarding paperwork is complete and compliant.
- Provide benefit and college overview to new hires and ensure smooth integration into the college community.
- Maintain applicant tracking system and recruitment records in compliance with federal, state, and institutional requirements.
- Conduct exit interviews and track recruitment metrics for reporting purposes.
- Send out 90-day evaluations and track compliance.
- Participate in maintaining salary ranges and schedule regrades.
Training & Development
- Coordinate college-wide employee training, including mandatory compliance-based programs (e.g., Title IX, harassment prevention, DCFS).
- Schedule and register faculty and staff for required and optional professional development sessions.
- Facilitate training sessions as needed, including leadership development and onboarding programs.
HR Support & Administration
- Process tuition reimbursement requests and in line with the college's benefit policy.
- Maintain accurate and confidential employee personnel files.
- Provide employment verifications and process Public Service Loan Forgiveness forms.
- Manage the "Sauk Serves" program.
- Post HR News updates on FAST.
- Prepare Board action items and support HR reporting requirements including EEO and compliance audits.
- Ensures faculty and staff operating a bus transporting student has completed and passed drug-screening requirements.
- Assist with HR events, recognition programs, and other departmental projects.
- Perform general office duties such as correspondence, scheduling, and record keeping.
- Participate in the college by serving on a committee(s).
- Order supplies for the department.

Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field required; Associate's degree with significant HR experience may be considered.
- HR experience, with emphasis in recruitment, onboarding, and training a plus.
- Knowledge of recruitment best practices and employment laws.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills with ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Commitment to confidentiality, sound judgment, and the mission of community colleges.
