Basic Ballroom Cha-Cha

Scheckel Dance Instruction has been offering quality dance training to Western Illinois & Eastern Iowa for 40 years. Whether you think you can dance or not, Dennis and Sandy will help you reach your dance goals and have a great time doing it. The dances being taught are appropriate for modern music. No dance experience required. Hard-soled shoes are recommended and a partner is suggested, but not required. Intermediate Ballroom Swing

Join your friends having fun in ballroom dance class. This class is for dancers who want to brush up their current dance skills to keep it lively and fun or learn more steps or different dances. Patterns being taught will be appropriate for ballroom and small dance floors. You will feel comfortable stepping out on the dance floor knowing how to Floor Craft. Dennis and Sandy are looking forward to ensure you have a lifetime of fun and dancing enjoyment. The dances will be taught using a variety of music from Country Western, Big Band, Contemporary, and 50’s and 60’s to instill beat identification. Proper dance technique, frame, and posture will be covered. Some dance experience required. Hard soled shoes are recommended and a partner is suggested, but not required. Basic of Firefighter Operation

The hands-on Basic Operations Firefighter Training Program will provide students with the requirements to become a career or volunteer firefighter. The training program will exceed 200 hours. Students will be physically and mentally tested every class. Rigorous, high quality instruction by veteran firefighters will prepare you to sit for the Office of the State Fire Marshall Basic Operations Firefighter Exam. Fire Service Vehicle Operator and CPR will be provided. NIMS 100, 700, and Courage to be Safe will be completed online. Students will need to purchase the book “Fundamentals of Firefighter Skills – Third Edition”. Orientation and classes will be held at Amboy Fire Department at 25 N E Avenue in Amboy. (Ages 18 & Up) Orientation will be held on Monday, January 21. Classes will begin on Tuesday, January 22 and will run until all objectives and class hours are met. (200+ hours), Tuesdays & Thursdays plus Saturdays as needed. Class Dates: January 21, 2020 - June 30, 2020
Dental Assisting

The 60 hour Dental Assisting Program prepares students for entry-level positions in one of the fastest growing health care positions. Students are familiarized with all areas of pre-clinical dental assisting and provided training in the skills required to function as an assistant in the dental practice. This course covers the following key areas and topics – Administrative Aspects include: the history of dentistry and dental assisting, introduction to the dental office, the legal aspects of dentistry, policies, and guidelines. Clinical Aspects include: introduction to oral anatomy, dental operatory, dental equipment, introduction to tooth structure, primary and permanent teeth, the oral cavity and related structures, proper patient positioning, dental hand-pieces, sterilization, and other areas. In addition to entry-level administrative jobs, this course is ideal for students interested in pursuing a future formal Dental Hygienist program. Clinical Externship: As part of this Dental Assisting program, you will be eligible to participate in a 40 hour clinical externship. To be eligible for the clinical, students must successfully complete the 60 hour program, submit to a thorough background check, drug screening and meet other requirements. Phlebotomy Technician

This 100 hour Phlebotomy Technician Program prepares students to collect blood specimens for the purpose of laboratory analysis. Students will become familiar with all aspects related to blood collection and develop comprehensive skills to perform venipunctures completely and safely. Classroom and lab work includes terminology, anatomy and physiology, blood collection procedures, specimen hands-on practice, and training in skills and techniques to perform puncture methods. The students will have a clinical externship experience and will have 100 total classroom hours and 100 sticks which is needed for ASCP certification. Students are required to have scrubs, current physical, and immunizations records for the clinical and the cost of them are NOT included in the cost of the class. The required immunizations are TB, Varicella, MMR, and TDap. The optional immunizations are Hepatitis B and Flu shot (seasonal). Clinical time will be scheduled around class time. (Ages 18 & Up) Class Dates: March 17, 2020 - June 30, 2020

Milwaukee Art & Architecture

Guided city tour of Milwaukee highlighting the city’s architectural marvels including the Milwaukee Art Museum, the Basilica of St Josaphat, Milwaukee City Hall and the unique neighborhoods that make up this beautiful city. Lunch included at Bartolotta’s Lake Park Bistro overlooking Lake Michigan in the North Shore neighborhood with the beautiful lakefront homes. In the afternoon, participants will see the city from a different vantage point as we sail through downtown and the Historic Third Ward along the Milwaukee River and out into Lake Michigan to see the city skyline. Trip is limited to 53 participants. Trip includes transportation, driver tip, step-on guide, admission fees, 3-course lunch, sightseeing cruise, and bus snacks. Lunch choices are Salmon Grill (Grilled Scottish Salmon) will pureed potatoes, vegetables, and seasonal sauce OR Poulet Roti (Roast Chicken) with purred potatoes, vegetables and seasonal sauce. Lunch comes with Bibb lettuce salad with white-wine vinaigrette & Gateu au Chocolat (flourless chocolate torte with crème Anglaise).
