2022-23 Women's Basketball Team Outlook
The 2022-23 Sauk Valley Women’s Basketball team returns a plethora of experience for this year’s team and hopes to see more success on the court. Last year was definitely a learning year and the players are excited to see that pay off this season.
The Skyhawks will return 7 players for last year’s team. Sophomore players Ainsleigh Hendrix, Caylyn Kimmel, Jenna Johnson, Josie Rank, Nakiya Rascon, Skyler Savage and Hailey Walters. They bring back much experience and have high hopes for this season. Ainsleigh Hendrix, Rock Falls, can shoot lights out and has improved her driving abilities. She will be looking to score even more this season. After seeing action in only a few games last season, Caylyn Kimmel, Dixon, will be looking to make a huge impact this season. Her ability to fly up the court with incredible court vision and her ability to score have us expecting great things from her this season. Jenna Johnson, Newman Central Catholic, is a feisty player that will bring a physical presence to the Skyhawks and after a strong return last season, will make an impact on many aspects of the game. Josie Rank, Newman Central Catholic, brings incredible athleticism and can score from anywhere on the court. Her game is much different than last season and we are excited to see what she can bring to the Skyhawks. Nakiya Rascon, Sterling, has a unique ability to be a player. She does all the little things to help her team be successful. After a season of being an undersized post player, she looks to swing to the perimeter and make a strong group of wings even stronger. Skyler Savage, Newman Central Catholic, brings with her a great skill set to score from all different areas. She also can guard multiple positions and will help her team in many ways this season. Hailey Walters, Sterling, she has a terrific motor and will be all over the floor at both ends. When you add that to her incredible ability to score the ball, she will be a player to watch this season.
Newcomers for the Skyhawks include Rachel Barrett from Faith Christian, Lara Bielema from Fulton, Adriana Miller from Milledgeville and Bri Stewart from Rock Island. All four have been a great addition to our program. Rachel is a gifted athlete who competes at everything she does. Her ability to rebound and guard in the post will have a huge impact for the Skyhawks. Lara may be one of the quickest guards in our area and we hope to use that to our advantage in a variety of ways. Adriana is a true leader and has a great knack for the game. She does so many things well that her impact will be huge. Bri has an uncanny ability to score and to block shots. Her presence has been felt throughout the entire preseason and we are excited to see her shine. All four newcomers have made our program so much better and are a great fit for our team.
We are excited to mesh into a super competitive team and have some high hopes for this season. The Skyhawks are ecstatic to have fans back to watch them play and can hardly wait to show off for them. This amazing group of young ladies are working very hard and looking forward to a thrilling season.
