Go Skyhawks! - Fear the Feathers

Women's Basketball Team Outlook

The 2019-2020 Sauk Valley Women’s Basketball team is looking to continue their success from the previous seasons.

The Skyhawks will bring back three familiar faces from the 2018-2019 team. Shian Galbreath from South Beloit, who suffered an early injury at the beginning of last season, is eager to be back on the floor to help lead the team with her great court vision and slashing abilities. Also returning is Shauni Warner of Faith Christian who brings length and defensive skill in the paint. Our last familiar face is Chyeanne Edwards, a sophomore from Beloit, Wisconsin who is looking to bring a little spark to the Skyhawks.

The Skyhawks bring in eight new freshmen and one sophomore. Breanna Fisher and Noelle Jones, our Amboy Dual are bringing a spark to our inside game. With Bree’s ability to read the ball off the rim and accumulate boards and Noelle’s desire to outwork any player she comes up against, the two will be a great addition to the team. Avery Fox and Zoe Carr come from Dixon bringing a great two-man game to the Skyhawks. Avery will be a great floor general while her former teammate, Zoe, will be a force to reckon with down low. Savannah Skinner and Chloe Klein from Newman, who also bring a powerhouse from both positions. Savannah is any teams dream blue-collared player who will cause a lot of havoc for other teams. Chloe brings a tremendous amount of height and shot blocking abilities down low. Miranda Hewitt from Rock Falls is a versatile player who is capable of knocking down the three, getting to the basket and racking up a lot of boards. Caitlin Stephens from Washington, Illinois has the potential to help bring the ball up the court with the ability to knock down shots and get into the lane. Her quickness will really be used on the defensive end, as well. Courtney Pierceson a sophomore from Prophetstown can also be a great threat from the outside with the ability to get into the lane. All nine of these newbies have the potential to make a difference and have a big impact on this team, as we are young and will be using everyone's strengths this season.

The Skyhawks are excited to shock everyone with an alternative style of play, as this is not a one man team, better yet a team where everyone is going to contribute in every game, making the Skyhawks very hard to defeat.
