2018 Sauk Valley Volleyball Team Outlook

With 4 straight Arrowhead Conference titles, 4 straight regional titles and 4 straight national tournament appearances, expectations are high for the Sauk Valley Volleyball program.

The Skyhawks return only 3 players from last year’s 8th place national team, and those 3 will be relied upon heavily: setter Paige Conner from Ohio, defensive specialist Olivia Pilgrim from Sterling and right side hitter Baylee Tillman from Mendota.

Newcomers include two transfer students: Kassidee Church, a middle hitter from Morrison who transferred from Loras College; and Aubree Schmitt, an outside hitter/setter from Sterling Newman who has already received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Iowa.  Freshmen joining the 2018 Skyhawks are Macie Good, an Honorable Mention All-State right side hitter from Sterling; Emily Shrimplin, a 1st Team All-Conference setter from A-FC; Hannah Wilson, a 1st Team All-Conference middle hitter from Sterling Newman; Jaida Dean, an outside hitter from Rock Falls; Taylor Toepfer, a defensive specialist from Byron and Rilley Peterson, an all-conference outside hitter from Polo.

The 2018 Skyhawks will be tested with another tough schedule as they will face top 20 national teams at the Waubonsee, Kirkwood, Lincoln Land and Parkland tournaments.
