2018-19 Men's Tennis Team Outlook

Men's Tennis Team Outlook

This year, Men’s Tennis team will have seven new faces. The only returnee from last year’s team will be Eli Leffelman from Newman H.S. We lost Bryce Stanley, Jacob Fane, Zak Khan, Jacob Rhodes, Anthony Martinez, Matt Wasilewski and Jarod Fogle. Eli played number 2 singles and 1 doubles last year and will be a leader for the other new players on the team.

New faces for the Skyhawks are Henry Steinhagen from Sterling H.S., Jason Rugh, and Abe Barjramoska from Dixon H.S. All these players were on their high schools tennis team for 4 years and have the experience and skills to play at the collegiate level.

The other new faces for the Skyhawks are also brand new to tennis and don’t have any high school experience but recreational experience playing tennis. They are Adrain Diaz from Sterling H.S., Caleb Moton, Matthew Lance, and Jason Rhodenbaugh from Dixon H.S. They all played other sports while in high school so they know the dedication it takes to be a student athlete. They will have their work cut out for them this season.

We have a very competitive Region to participate in. They are mostly all Chicago land area NJCAA schools. We will be working very hard in the off-season getting into shape and learning the skills needed to be competitive. Our goal is to place in the top-three teams at Regionals to make it to the National tournament. Along with the team goal, each individual will have their own goal to place in the top-three in each of their flights. Coach Kipping is looking forward to a very challenging year with so many new players to the sport, and believes they will have a very successful season. She has had individuals before on her teams new at tennis who have medaled at the Regional tournament in their flight.
