Go Skyhawks! - Fear the Feathers

2017-18 Softball Team Outlook

After a disappointing season last year, the Skyhawks intend to go back to their formula of hard work and discipline as they strive for conference and regional championship titles this season.

This would mark the fourth of these championships in the last seven years for the Skyhawks. Last year's schedule included an overall record of 17-29-1, including and 8-8-1 Conference record, a Regional record of 15-13-1, leaving the Skyhawks with a 3rd place Regional finish.

Head Coach, Noel Aponte, has high expectations in terms of maturity and leadership from his team this year. The 2016-17 roster returns four locally talented sophomores including Jenny Lawson (Rock Falls), Alexandria Sterenberg (Polo), Molly Johnson (Byron), and Erin Newbury (Ottowa).

These student-athletes have experiences the hard work needed to lead the team to a winning season. This season's ig freshman group brings fresh energy and talent to the team. They include Rachel Patting (Rock Island), Ruthie Neff (Davenport), Brooke Pyle (Annawan), Mackenzie Smith (Orion), Allie Henson (Oregon), Delany Reed (Fulton), Erika Smith (Dixon), Abbie Bazzell (Fairbury), Emily Berogan (Sterling), and Kennedy (Gary, IN). The freshman recruits are adapting quickly to the pace and demands of the Skyhawk Softball program.

The Skyhawks have lofty goals for this season and believe they have the right mix of talent, hard work, and maturity to meet them. They will begin their fall season with an 18 game schedule starting September. These young ladies are excited to be a part of the Skyhawks family, and hope to celebrate with a winning season.
