With a 10-27 record last year, the 2019-2020 Skyhawk Women’s Softball team is looking to rebuild its program. With the experience of 9 returners at the helm, the team is to improve its record.
Returning in the circle for the Skyhawks are McKenna Rommel and Maddi Deery. Behind the plate is Sarah Bisland, who received a Region IV First Team All Conference Award last season. Bisland’s, Hannah Kolling’s, and Brittany Blythe’s, successful hitting will continue onto this season to help the Skyhawks. Taylor Hoefler and Aleah Wight will be returning again this season bringing speed and a great defensive glove. Also returning are Courtney Hoagland and Stephanie Fassler. Hoagland will bring her speed on the bases and Fassler looks to bring a powerful bat this season.
The team has 8 incoming freshmen that are committed to helping rebuild the tradition of Sauk Valley softball. Megan Dunsworth and Ashley Blythe will join the pitching staff. On the infield, Maddy Hicks and Hailey Frank will compete at the corners, while Leigha Grove and Madi Craft will join the middle infield. To finish out the freshman class, Jessica Woodworth and Miranda Hewitt will be competing in the outfield.
