Donaldson Co. Inc. (DCI) is a publicly traded, worldwide manufacturer of filtration solutions for a wide variety of markets and applications. Our corporate office is based in Minneapolis, Minnesota. We have 11,000 employees and generate sales revenue of $2.5B. The Dixon, IL facility manufactures Air filtration systems for a wide variety of engine, industrial, and other special applications. The Dixon plant has 250 employees and has revenue of approximately $100M in sales annually.

Donaldson Company was founded in 1915 when Frank Donaldson Sr. developed a simple air cleaner to solve a farmer’s tractor engine problems. In 1915, a young Frank Donaldson Sr., then a Bull Tractor Company salesman, visited a customer whose farm tractor kept breaking down in his dusty field. So he fashioned an air cleaner to protect the engine from the dust. The invention – the world’s first effective air cleaner for a tractor engine – worked, and Donaldson Company was born.

The company began in a Minnesota metal shop with Frank, his father, W.H.L., and his brother Bob. The three hammered out Frank’s invention. One hundred years later, Donaldson holds over 1,600 active U.S. and international patents, and employees in 44 countries support customers around the world.

Donaldson provides customers with solutions that improve peoples’ lives, enhance equipment performance and protect our environment. Our products are found in a wide variety of industries, including agriculture, on- and off-road equipment, power generation, pharmaceuticals, aerospace and defense, food and beverage, transportation, oil and gas and more.

For over two decades, Donaldson has been a pioneer in nanofiber technology, manufacturing and testing filter elements using fibers less than a micron in width. In the tightly regulated transportation market, our R&D efforts have produced smaller, lighter and more efficient filters and filtration systems. And our technologies help protect critical applications from the damaging effects of particles, gases and humidity in everything from computers to hearing aids. As equipment and technology advances, Donaldson continues to develop innovative solutions to anticipate and exceed evolving requirements.

A Multicraft Intern at Donaldson Company Incorporated would be assigned to the facility engineering department and would assist with projects for new equipment and processes, manufacturing and operational improvement, preventative maintenance, and machine repair. Required to work side by side with the current staff and also work independently on some projects. Some projects would require independent creative thinking for achieving the end goal. Your skills with CAD and other computer software, blueprint reading, electrical, mechanical, fabrication, carpentry and troubleshooting will be of value to this internship. Our manufacturing engineers have many years of experience and are eager to help the right candidate grow.
