The 60 hour Dental Assisting Program prepares students for entry-level positions in one of the fastest growing health care positions. Students are familiarized with all areas of pre-clinical dental assisting and provided training in the skills required to function as an assistant in the dental practice. This course covers the following key areas and topics – Administrative Aspects include: the history of dentistry and dental assisting, introduction to the dental office, the legal aspects of dentistry, policies, and guidelines. Clinical Aspects include: introduction to oral anatomy, dental operatory, dental equipment, introduction to tooth structure, primary and permanent teeth, the oral cavity and related structures, proper patient positioning, dental hand-pieces, sterilization, and other areas. In addition to entry-level administrative jobs, this course is ideal for students interested in pursuing a future formal Dental Hygienist program. Clinical Externship: As part of this Dental Assisting program, you will be eligible to participate in a 40 hour clinical externship. To be eligible for the clinical, students must successfully complete the 60 hour program, submit to a thorough background check, drug screening and meet other requirements. An EMT is trained to respond to emergency situations and provide efficient and immediate care to the ill and injured. They transport patients to an appropriate medical facility. The EMT possesses the basic knowledge and skills necessary to provide appropriate interventions at the scene and during transport. EMTs function as part of comprehensive EMS response, under medical oversight, and function with basic interventions and equipment. Qualifications: Aptitudes required for EMT work are good physical stamina, endurance, and body conditions to handle significant lifting, stooping and walking. Student must balance items and patients in excess of a minimum of 125 pounds. To be certified as an EMT, candidates must be at least 18 years old and possess a high school diploma or equivalent (GED), at the time of class completion. Phlebotomy Technician

This 90 hour Phlebotomy Technician Program prepares professionals to collect blood specimens from clients for the purpose of laboratory analysis. Students will become familiar with all aspects related to blood collection and develop comprehensive skills to perform venipunctures completely and safely. Classroom and lab work includes terminology, anatomy and physiology, blood collection procedures, specimen hands-on practice, and training in skills and techniques to perform puncture methods. There will be a 40 hour clinical externship included in this course. Students are required to have scrubs, current physical, and immunizations records for the clinical and the cost of them are NOT included in the cost of the class. The required immunizations are TB, Varicella, MMR, and TDap. The optional immunizations are Hepatitis B and Flu shot (seasonal). Students may choose to take the Phlebotomy Technician Certification Exam. If chosen, the exam carries the cost of approximately $105 and will be given by the instructor. Administrative duties, such as fee collection, banking, and accounts payable are also emphasized to provide the student with the skills necessary to maintain an efficient front office. Students will enjoy learning through classroom lecture as well as hands on labs.
